Autism

Autism is often known as “Autistic Spectrum Disorder” because it covers a range of conditions.  These are usually life-long and can include difficulties with communication such as not understanding body language, problems relating to others or coping with social situations, learning difficulties and problems with physical co-ordination. These difficulties may be mild or quite severe.

Asperger’s Syndrome is a particular form of Autism where the main problems are likely to be social. Parents and carers may feel judged by others as the young person can appear “normal” but may behave inappropriately.
