For many young people sex is a subject which brings with it a host of complex issues.

Puberty is a time of heightened emotion and hormonal changes and there is often peer pressure to have sex, which the young person may not feel ready for.

There are often emotional and relational factors for them to address, added to the possibility of sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies.

Also, the young person may be struggling with their sexual orientation or identity which, depending on their family/friends network, may be difficult to explore and understand fully.
